Cardboard boxes are a hassle. Assembling and taping is frustrating and takes time.
Make sure not to put anything heavy on them or let them get wet.
When you're done, you'll need to break them down with a knife or scissors.
And then you have to throw them away. "Away" is either a landfill, an incinerator or an energy-intensive and water-intensive sorting, pulping and re-manufacturing process.

It's ok to use both
90% of your items should fit in our plastic boxes, but you may need cardboard boxes for oversize items.
After your move, you'll be relieved to have used more of the green ones in this picture. They get picked up and reused. The ones on the right are a hassle to get rid of.
